Pasadena Farmers’ Market

Nov 18, 2011

To celebrate the publication of our sister book EAT: Los Angeles 2012, we’re posting regular listings chosen from the book’s many San Gabriel Valley destinations for food lovers. This one’s about our biggest farmers’ market.

WHY A great market east of Hollywood.

WHAT This popular market on the edge of Victory Park offers Harry’s Berries, Bill’s Bees (honeys), ABC Rhubarb (herbs and greens), Two Peas in a Pod (super sweet sugar snaps, shelling beans, cauliflower, berries),and Mike Taylor (spring and Maui onions, tomatoes, nasturtiums). Good flowers, too. Stop by the Culture Club 101 stall for a kombucha refresher or a lacto-fermented soda. The same group runs a smaller but still worthwhile market on Tuesday mornings at Villa Park, 363 E. Villa, in central Pasadena.

WHO Parents stocking up while their kids play AYSO soccer on the neighboring fields.

N. Sierra Madre Blvd. & Paloma St., East Pasadena, 626.449.0179, Sat. 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Cash only.
