Il Fornaio, A Speakeasy

Dec 4, 2012

For one night, Pasadena’s Il Fornaio is turning into a speakeasy, with help from neighborhood friends Elisa B., Goorin Brothers, Wasabi, and Origins. It’s being deemed a Prohibition-era cocktail party with a fashion show to boot.

While being serenaded by Dutch Newman and The Musical Melodians, you’re invited to sidle up to the tasting bar and sample 20 new drinks on Il Fornaio’s menu.

Women’s clothing store, Elisa B., is coordinating a fashion show that will incorporate holiday dresses with hats from Goorin Brothers, jewelry by Wasabi, and make-up by Origins. They’re even plugging “bathtub gin + swanky hanky-panky!”

Models will include local residents Kim Crockrell, Michele Canon, Rose Chan-Lou, Anna Drabek, Stephanie Fowler, Liz Gayed, Kelly Jue, and Nicole Nguyen.

Some lucky someone can also be the recipient of a signed 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Satchel handbag via the live auction, which will benefit the Glendale Chapter of the National Charity League.

After all the action (around 9 p.m.), Elisa B. will host after-hours shopping, along with dessert and coffee, all the better to neutralize the effects of sampling 20 different cocktails, we presume.

And by the way—pssst!—a secret password will be needed to enter the speakeasy, only available at Elisa B. on the day of the party.

The food is great and so is the Il Fornaio Chardonnay. Also, the service is great and friendly.
