Marigolds, memories and pan dulce

Nov 2, 2012

Marigolds, memories and pan dulce photoWhile many have merged Halloween and Day of Dead into a mega, end-of-October shopping, partying and-drinking extravaganza, Día de los Muertos or  Day of the Day is traditionally celebrated in Mexico on Nov. 1 (All Saints Day) and Nov. 2 (All Souls Day).   Today, Elysian Heights Elementary held a post-pumpkin, Day of the Dead celebration complete with bowls of pozole,  plates of pan dulce, paper skeletons, face painting and an altar decorated with marigolds and photos of loved ones who have passed away.
