The Pasadena Short Story Project

Dec 13, 2009

rose city sisters 300x156 The Pasadena Short Story Project short story blog Rose City Sisters Pasadena writers Pasadena fiction photoLocal writer, comic and marketing consultant Paula Johnson is also the proprietor of the Rose City Sisters, a “online flash fiction blog” that publishes very short stories of 1,000 words or less. The writers don’t have to live locally, but their stories must have some connection to Pasadena.

In the blog’s first year, it’s piled up a respectable number of stories, including ones by such popular local bloggers as Petrea Burchard, Margaret Finnegan and Susan Carrier, and now Johnson is holding a contest to determine the best Pasasdena flash fiction of 2009.

If you haven’t already, check out Rose City Sisters (and no, it’s not just women writers) and read some of the submissions. Johnson will determine the seven finalists by tracking how many visitors each story attracts. We found a couple we quite liked — perhaps you will, too.

  1. Thanks so much for covering our humble contest! I hope the writers out there will consider submitting a story for 2010.

    Happy holidays to all!

  2. Petrea says:

Nice of you to point everyone toward this. I would love to be among the fabulous finalists. But even if I don’t make it, it’s just great to be a part of the site. (By the way, ahem, my story is #8.)

Another local writer and blogger, Desiree Zamorano (http://restlesschef.blogspot.com/), has some kick-butt pieces on Rose City Sisters.
