Local writer, comic and marketing consultant Paula Johnson is also the proprietor of the Rose City Sisters, a “online flash fiction blog” that publishes very short stories of 1,000 words or less. The writers don’t have to live locally, but their stories must have some connection to Pasadena.
In the blog’s first year, it’s piled up a respectable number of stories, including ones by such popular local bloggers as Petrea Burchard, Margaret Finnegan and Susan Carrier, and now Johnson is holding a contest to determine the best Pasasdena flash fiction of 2009.
If you haven’t already, check out Rose City Sisters (and no, it’s not just women writers) and read some of the submissions. Johnson will determine the seven finalists by tracking how many visitors each story attracts. We found a couple we quite liked — perhaps you will, too.
