Arlington Garden Turns 5

Published: Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

arlington poppies Arlington Garden Turns 5One of Pasadena’s greatest grassroots treasures, Arlington Garden, turns 5 in July, but the celebration is happening a little early, to take advantage of the robust citrus grove and gorgeous spring flowers — including spectacular poppies, which won’t last much longer. (Bring your camera!)

The “Constant Gardeners,” Betty and Charles McKenney, and fellow volunteers will have coffee and snacks, and you can get free advice from a garden designer and expert in native plants. Local artists will be on hand to show/sell their art and music, and the garden’s delicious new sweet navel orange marmalade (also on sale at Jones Coffee) will be on offer, as will two of our books, Hometown Pasadena and At Home Pasadena; proceeds from all sales will support this totally volunteer-run garden that’s open to all. Councilmember Steve Madison and the McKenneys will say a few words at 11 a.m.

The party is free, low-key and all about neighborliness, spring and the love of gardens.
