A John Denver Christmas & Scambooty

Dec 10, 2013

john denverHow can you resist? John Denver is synonymous with Christmas like cookies and cream. Okay, that might be pushing it, but we have fond memories of our very first concert being John Denver, live in New York (not our first choice). We’ve always made a bit of a joke about it, (reclaiming our cool factor when we mention attending Yes, Bowie, and Prince concerts), but Denver’s voice accompanied by his white boy milk-toast good looks, tousled blond hair, and ever-present big, wide smile—his talents cannot be dismissed.

Jim Curry and his band will perform Denver hits like “Rocky Mountain High” and “Country Roads”, as well as songs from his many Christmas television specials and albums like “Silver Bells” and “O Holy Night” on Thursday, December 12th at the Coffee Gallery.

Jim Curry and his band will “fill up your senses” in his heart-felt seasonal show.

Responding to the tinkling of Rudoph’s bells (and giving in to the incessant begging of their probation officer) Scambooty reunites for their amazing Christmas Show Spectacular, Sat., Dec. 14th @ 3:00 p.m.

Make room for this one! No one sounds or writes like Scambooty. Scambooty’s show is a definite one-of-a-kind and sure to be a holiday highlight. This trio’s intricate, eclectic arrangements will take your beloved Christmas classics to a whole new level, showcasing rich harmonies and inspired lyrics, which will (to say the least!) surprise you.

Their music and laughter is contagious, but don’t let their squeaky clean looks fool you. Behind those twinkling eyes and sparkling teeth lurks a collective oddball sense of  humor that at one moment lampoons Christmas favorites such as Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (Rudolph the Brown-nose Suck-up) and We Three Kings (Merchants of Myrrh) then at the next moment breaks your heart with their beautifully elegant and touching renditions of classics like Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.

Wear your holiday jammies (they do!) and bring a hankie.

You won’t want to miss this one. Unlike Santa, you never know You won’t want to miss this one. Unlike Santa, you never know when (or if) they’ll return. (text from
