A Blithe Spirit Within

Oct 11, 2010

BS076Long 300x140 A Blithe Spirit Within Blithe Spirit a noise within photoThe name of Southern California’s most acclaimed—indeed, only—classical theater repertory company, A Noise Within, makes for easy wordplaying, though some attempts are better than others. Our latest titular sally refers to ANW’s production of Noel Coward’s 1941 comedy, Blithe Spirit. Taking its name from a Shelly poem, the play depicts a “just for fun” séance at the home of a novelist and socialite that goes hauntingly wrong. Shenanigans ensue, funny things happen.

This is the second play in ANW’s 19th and final season in Glendale. As theater fans and regular readers no doubt already know, they are moving to East Pasadena, assuming they raise that last $3,000,000. Blithe Spirit opened last Saturday, and will run until Friday, December 17th.
