On Tuesday, November 20th, Haven Gastropub +Brewery is having a 15-hour fundraising marathon and will donate 100% of the profits to the Red Cross to aide in Hurricane Sandy relief.
“This tragedy has national implications and affects all of us. Our staff will be donating their time along with their gratuities to raising funds for the hurricane relief efforts,” commented Executive Chef Greg Daniels.
Along with his partners Wil Dee and Ace Patel, Haven raised $27,000 for the 2010 earthquake victims in Haiti and the 2011 victims of the tsunami in Japan.
“We’re counting on our many supporters to come out and enjoy our full menu, knowing that every dollar they spend will help those in need of our help. As long as we are in a position to do so, we will continue to support relief efforts through Red Cross Disaster Relief.”
It’s getting chilly outside, so imagine how it must be for those people on the East Coast who still—still!—don’t have power and heat. Come on in to Haven and grab a beer, snack on truffle fries or a charcuterie plate, then dive into some comfort food like mac ‘n cheese or delve into new territory with curried goat stew or beef tongue poutine. Maybe Arrogant Mussels will grab your interest or the seasonal pumpkin gratin. What about closing out your dining experience with cookies and milk? (Not kidding!)
Tuesday night is a night for dining—ordering appetizers, soups, salads, entrees, and desserts. Embrace the spirit of giving and remember the people who are having to dig deep every single morning so that they can face another day of finding food, shelter, clothing, and warmth, all while cleaning up the rubble of their home or business. Every day, they’re having to dig deep, persevere, not lose hope, and count their blessings—this week of all weeks—Thanksgiving.
Editor’s Note: If you can’t make it to Haven tomorrow, Haven’s fundraiser continues online for another 18 days, until Friday, December 7th. Their goal is to raise $20,000.
