Chili Chefs: Bring Your Best

Aug 20, 2013

ChiliCookOff_Article2013Lake Avenue Church is hosting a “Chili Cook-Off” and somehow this will be paired with a Classic Car Night.

Classic cars and chili?

With the temperature predicted to hit 91 degrees on Friday, August 23rd, the heat of a good chili may actually cool the body down.

Anyone with a favorite chili recipe can entry by registering and paying a $15 fee. All registrants will receive a goody bag and a Classic Car Night t-shirt, “and the possibility of winning the coveted Chili Trophy.”

Judges for this year’s best chili include an actual judge, Lance Ito, along with Robin Salzer of Robin’s Woodfire BBQ & Grill and Samson Francois, Executive Chef of the Pasadena University Club.

Along with classic cars, there will by motorcycles, hot rods, exotic cars, and even a couple of customized farm tractors (towed in from where, we wonder?).

Live classic rock will fill the air thanks to The International Super Stars of Rock. A bounce house will be open to kids, items will be raffled, and burgers and hot dogs will be on the barbecue, cooked to order by Lake’s own chef Leo Hurtado.

Admission is free; donations accepted for food.
