Dumpling & Beer Fest

Sep 28, 2015

It’s Octoberfest, Asian-style.

600px-Beer_stein_007Celebrate the year with beer!

Or, a variety of beers… and dumplings… at San Gabriel’s Dumpling & Beer Fest on October 1, at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse.

Not only dumplings are on the menu, but egg rolls, spring rolls, pork belly katsu, and Korean chicken wings (to name a few). For dessert, try egg waffles or beer ice cream.

Vendors at the festival include Puffect Bakery Cafe, Scoops on Tap, Lahtt Sauce, and the Sticky Bun and Tornado Potato gourmet food trucks.

Moonsville Collective provides the live music while guests grab the chopsticks and raise a pint…

Right off the bat you realize what an anachronism Moonsville Collective is. The instrumentation is pretty similar to Appalachian music. It’s not exactly bluegrass, although it is close – especially when you hear the multi-part harmony vocals. This is the kind of sound you might expect to hear from a band playing on a front porch or in a barn. All the members in the band show some prowess with their instruments. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself listening intently just to try to figure out how the guys do it.
