After last weekend’s performances at Make Music Pasadena, music has officially arrived in town, and it’s here to stay for the summer. Next on the agenda is the beginning of Levitt Pavilion’s free summer concert series, which starts this Wednesday with marionettes (every Wednesday is Children’s Night) before the grown-up entertainment begins. The first week offers an impressive lineup, ending on Sunday with the vocal stylings of jazz maven Barbara Morrison. The next few weeks promise lively and rhythmic performances from such groups as Sambada, an Afro-Brazilian band with sounds that will have you on your feet. Into a more mellow scene? Try the folk-music style of Maxim Ludwig, a New York native whose mix of early rock ‘n roll and classic soul has earned him comparisons to the likes of Bob Dylan. Other performances that catch our eye include Ximena Sariñana, local brother-and-sister duo Belle Brigade and the Mariachi Divas. Treat your eyes and ears to a summer full of sounds.
