It’s easy to take for granted the remarkable programming put on by Caltech, and not so easy to actually get over there and take advantage of it. But the school year is ending, and the place gets quiet in the summer, so now’s about your last chance for a few months to enjoy yet another thought-provoking, intelligent — and free — Caltech event. Part of its Voices of Vision series, this event is called Science and Art: A Conversation with the Getty Trust’s Jim Wood, and that’s exactly what it is. KPCC and NPR’s Madeline Brand will engage Jim Wood, CEO of the J. Paul Getty Trust, in a conversation about the intersection of science and art. They’ll also talk about the role of the Getty, and about an upcoming series of exhibitions featuring Los Angeles artists.
