Pasadena ArtNight!

The best free thing in Pasadena, period. Full stop. End of story. We love ArtNight.

Twice a year, starting at 6 p.m. on a Friday night (this coming Friday in this case), dozens of Pasadena museums and schools open their doors to hordes of culture nuts.bus Pasadena ArtNight! Pasadena Old Town museums free culture arts artnight art night photo Free shuttles loop around stops, moving you, for free, from one art site to the next. Just show up at one location and the night is set out right in front of you. It’s great. The crowds can be a bit big, but considering the economy right now, this is a perfect night out for next to nothing. To be extra cheap and/or environmentally friendly, take the Metro (step off at Memorial Park or Del Mar) or take a bike tour. We’ve also heard that some local restaurants give discounts to ArtNight patrons (you get a sticker to denote your artful status). It is fun, free, and even educational — what more could you ask for?

Venues typically include the Norton Simon Museum of Art, Armory Center for the Arts, Art Center College of Design, Pacific Asia Museum, Pasadena Public Library, Pasadena Playhouse, Pasadena Museum of History, Spitzer Science Center at Caltech, and many, many more. It is a wonderful night. So come out and take in some culture!

Friday, March 13
6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
This event takes place all around Pasadena – if you show up to the Norton Simon or anywhere in Old Town, you will find a shuttle and be able to begin your journey. More information on participants will be divulged shortly. Check the website for specific locations.

Be sure to come by Pasadena Central Library, 285 E. Walnut St., for ArtNight! From 6 to 10 p.m. we’ll have everything from a Mexican fiesta to salsa dance lessons, all in celebration of this year’s One City, One Story novel “The Hummingbird’s Daughter” by Luis Alberto Urrea. http://www.cityofpasadena.net/library.
