Living Off the Money Grid

Petty Cash.

Maybe it’s the closet anarcho-syndicalist in us, but this tagline from has our interest piqued: “Twelve years ago, Daniel Suelo left his life savings in a phone booth and walked away; since then he’s lived happily and successfully without money, credit, barter or government subsidies.” There’s more, about our materialist culture, obsession with stuff, could we do with less of it, etc., though the answer to that last question is obviously yes. Really though, this Daniel Suelo must have a good story. He doesn’t even barter? Who is he, Robinson Crusoe? Anyway, he’ll be at the Crawford Family Forum on Monday the 26th with his biographer and a KPCC disembodied voice to talk about himself and the book about him, The Man Who Quit Money. We’re intrigued.
