Mission Playhouse Preview Dinner

Oct 22, 2012

l 300x225 Mission Playhouse Preview Dinner Ugly Betty Tony Plana The Mission Play San Gabriel Mission Playhouse chef Ryan Morrison Cast Iron Pop Up California Missions photoThe San Gabriel Mission Playhouse was built solely for The Mission Play, which was last produced in the 1940s. The story focuses on the beginning of California’s “modern history as Father Junipero Serra and his followers struggle to build 21 missions throughout the Golden State.”

The current interpretation of the play is a musical based on the 1927 original work, and film and television actor Tony Plana (Ugly Betty‘s dad) is Artistic Director of the project.

The playhouse is hosting a preview dinner this Thursday, October 25th. Wine and champagne at 6:30 in the evening will be followed by a multi-course meal accompanied by song, dance, and scenes from the play. Dinner will be provided by Cast Iron Restaurant and chef Ryan Morrison, and will feature “an eclectic blend of vintage style and new school theory emphasizing bold flavors and fresh ingredients.”

Tickets for the event are $75 and all proceeds will benefit the San Gabriel production of The Mission Play. For more information, visit missionplayhouse.org, or to purchase tickets, go to itsmyseat.com.
