ECHO PARK — Sargent Court is a circular, narrow lane that wraps around a hilltop. The hill has seen little in the way of new construction in recent years but now a large, nearly 3,000-square foot home is rising on a small, empty lot at the corner of Sargent Court and Sargent Place.
The two-story home, which backs up to Elysian Park, will include a basement and a two-car garage, according to building permit records. The architect is David J. Campbell, whose been involved in some major projects, including the new Bradley International Terminal at LAX and the renovation of historic landmarks, including L.A. City Hall and the Bradbury Building in downtown.
Judging by the appearance of the partially built home, Campbell is favoring a modern, angular look instead of a historic theme.
