Call for Artists

Feb 15, 2016

Another-Green-WorldOpen Studios Alta/Pasa/Dena has grown from a handful of participants to more than 50 artists in 25 locations, from home studios to galleries. From exploring the wild wonders and jumble of Zorithian Ranch to enjoying a glass of wine and sitting in a sunny backyard while browsing art, Open Studios is a 2-day event for viewing (and purchasing) an impressive variety of quality art.

Open Studios, begun in 2013, is completely organic, created as a way for local artists to show and sell their work, while also offering visitors a glimpse into work spaces, the artistic process, and with access to the artists—as well as an enjoying day of live music and homemade food. Drive, park, tour, visit, chat, and repeat. (Or bike. Or bus. Or walk.)

Would you like to be an artist on this tour?

Call for Artists: Open Studios Alta/Pasa/Dena, June 4, 5, 11am-5pm

All visual artists, age 18 and over may apply to participate in this juried event. You may host the event in your own home or studio if within our Location Boundaries: All of Altadena, and the areas of Pasadena between the 210 Fwy. on the West and South, and Altadena Dr. on the East. (North is Altadena.)

You may choose to show in another location on the tour with mutual consent. Open Studios will help place you if needed. We are an all-volunteer organization, and the event attracts a very engaged audience. Artists conduct their own sales, so there are no commission fees, and you choose how to best showcase your art. Some studios have live music, demonstrations, and other fun events.

Participation Benefits Include:

  • Inclusion of one photo of your artwork and your profile in our full color printed Tour Booklet.
  • Inclusion of photo and your profile on our website, and possible “Featured Artist” profile on the Homepage.
  • Inclusion in our Social Media campaign, including a “Featured Artist of the Day” on Facebook, with 3 photos of your work, bio, and optional headshot. Other channels where you will be included are Pinterest and Twitter.
  • Media and print campaign exposure. Our last event had many articles about the Tour and our artists in online publications.
  • Community outreach campaign. Includes a booth where you can display your art during the Altadena Guild Home tour, May 1st.
  • Our SEO (Search Engine Optimization) efforts have acquired us a #1 ranking on Google search results for the past two tours. This has increased our artists’ exposure as well.
  • Open Studios Event Signage. 3 lawn signs provided, to be returned to Open Studios Tour coordinators after event.
  • Liability Insurance against damages caused by artwork to visitors.
