Women’s Equality Day and National Dog Day

Aug 26, 2013

Could say lots about this.  Have to wonder which will receive greater general coverage.
Wednesday is the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington – the event from which we known Dr. Marin Luther King’s “I have a dream” speech.

Wondering if we know some of the speeches of the women who were martyrs for the votes – in either of those efforts?  So hoping that folks do or that they remember to look up the words of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, or Susan B. Anthony, or Ida B. Wells, or Lola Chavez de Armijo.  Some more radical than others, but all demanding equality.

Below is an image of a woman remembering Inez Milholland. She was a lawyer and a martyr for  women’s suffrage.

Today is also National Dog Day.  So I’ll share a picture of our dear P├ínfilo.

Many men and women who fought for Women’s Rights, also were involved with the abolition of slavery, child labor laws, and societies established for the prevention of cruelty to animals and children.
I think they’d be willing to share a day of remembrance.
