Once again, Girl Friday and Urban Kitchen have teamed up to create a holiday “to go” menu that includes helpful sides and desserts to take the stress out of holiday cooking and for folks who will be guests at someone else’s table.

Sides range from $5/cup for cranberry sauce with citrus and vanilla to $9/pint for Italian sausage and sourdough dressing. Desserts run from $18 to $20.

Other options include roasted beet salad, Brussel sprouts with crispy proscuitto and cider vinaigrette, honey-glazed carrots, yam puree with candied pecan topping, roasted cauliflower with cranberries and pine nuts, and tortellini en brodo (cheese fill pasta in homemade chicken stock).

Desserts include the Urban’s ever popular almond torte (pictured top right), as well as a key lime tart, pumpkin chocolate chip muffins (or loaf), chocolate fudge “killer” brownies, salted oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and brown butter and peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips.

The deadline for ordering is November 22, by noon. Pick up is at Urban Kitchen in South Pasadena on November 25, 3-6 p.m., and delivery is available for a flat fee of $20.

For questions and to place an order, call 1.626.403.5633.

Urban Kitchen, 1009½ Fair Oaks Ave., South Pasadena 91030.

Urban Kitchen conducts cooking classes for kids and adults alike, sometimes with special guest chefs such as Theresa Wahl of Auntie Em’s Kitchen and Sonoko Sakai of Common Grains.

Upcoming classes at Urban Kitchen include Comfort Soups & Stews for Fall on November 12, the Art of Fresh Pasta on November 20, and Classic Steakhouse on December 3. Class cost: $68. Find details here.

Additionally, UK hosts private events (demonstrations and cocktail parties) for up to thirty people, though hands-on style classes should be kept to a maximum of twelve.
