Foothill Family Service offers mental health and counseling services, child abuse and prevention treatment, domestic violence protection and treatment, and services for families with children ages 0-5 years old.
Foothill Family Service “has helped troubled families out of myriad dilemmas, so that instead of merely existing they could really live,” said FFS President Harriet Huntington Doerr in 1943.
In 1948, after Elise de la Fontaine is brought on as Executive Director, FFS “becomes a pioneer in the psychoanalytic approach to treatment.”
In the decades since, FFS has established numerous programs from Bright Start, a home-visiting program for teen parents, focusing on infant development; early ESTEEM, identifying and treating the mental health needs of children ages 0-5 and their families; Hope and Home, serving young children and their young mothers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness; to Project AIM, “an evidence-based practice to help at-risk teens stay in school and develop tools for their future.”
