Pasadena Chamber of Commerce’s SIP-tember kicks off on August 15th to honor the birthday of “culinary pioneer” Julia Child. Just as with the inaugural Julia Child Pasadena Cocktail Party last year, this year’s event will take place at restaurants all over the city with a citywide happy birthday toast at 7 p.m. Guests are encouraged to dress for a 1950s, 1960s, or 1970s era cocktail party.
SIP-tember also has a cocktail challenge. Last year, Ruth’s Chris Steak House won with their Broad Street Hurricane.
Through September 26th, folks can patronize 32 different restaurants, bars, and lounges, and sample the establishment’s original libation then vote for favorites (there are scores of categories).
The competition starts with 64 cocktails with a live taste-off of the final four drinks in each bracket at the Taste of Pasadena at the Rose Bowl, where twenty Pasadena restaurants and caterers will also showcase their menus.
