The Pasadena MLK Community Coalition is hosting a tribute and celebration of the slain civil rights hero at Robinson Center on Monday, January 21st.
Live coverage of President Obama’s inauguration will be shown from 8:30-9:30 a.m.,followed by the presentation of awards to student contestants in the MLK Community Coalition Essay and Art Contests. Former state Assemblyman Anthony Portantino will give the keynote speech, followed by former Pasadena-branch NAACP President Joe Brown. The All Saints Children’s and Youth Choirs will perform, a feature documentary on King will be shown. A “fabulous” lunch will also be served.
