Magical Music at the Mill

Jun 16, 2014

PageImage-505058-5018207-Fiato2Surrounded by pomegranate trees on the patio at the Old Mill in San Marino, guests may enjoy a summer evening, sitting only feet away from the musicians.

Once every month, the Old Mill presents intimate summer concerts, and this year it’s all about the ensemble of instrumental performers, as in four of them.

On June 28th, the California String Quartet will perform, followed by the Encore Saxophone Quartet in July and the Fiato String Quartet in August.

Though the doors open at seven o’clock, only a no-host bar is offered, so we’d suggest indulging in a late, hearty lunch. Guests are invited to come early and tour the original adobe building completed in 1816 (originally a grist mill for San Gabriel Valley), and to visit the gallery to view Endless Summer, the current California Art Club exhibit.

The California String Quartet’s program on June 28th will include Schubert’s String Quartet Op. 10 in E flat Major and Aleksandr Borodin’s String Quartet No. 2.
