Kitchen & Home Tour Goes Small

Aug 31, 2014

Parker West Int_bAfter traipsing up sweeping grand staircases, navigating myriad hallways, side doors and en suites, then clomping down narrow back (servants) staircases and admiring living rooms larger than your entire home, have you had enough of mansions and grand estates?

If so, this year’s American Society of Interior Designers, Pasadena Chapter’s Kitchen and Home tour may interest you—”four exceptional homes under 2000 square feet.”

Each of these residences are “efficient, gorgeous, well thought-out, and unique spaces that were designed by local Pasadena designers.”

Included in the tour are a European bungalow described as sophisticated and a mid-century house “vibrantly re-imagined” and “smashingly colorful,” which are located in Pasadena. “Modern rooms with view” and “timely transition” describe the two houses that are located in La Cañada.

Featured designers include Greg Parker of Parker West Interiors, Emily LaMarque, Sara Bates, and Debbie Talianko. (All interior design photos in this article are included to provide examples of the participating designers’ work; these homes are not part of the tour.)

Besides engaging in this self-led tour, ticket holders may meet design experts and shop at the artisan bazaar, which will be at the European bungalow location. Designer resource displays will be exhibited with” demonstrations of how some products work and are built.”

The seminar “Moving Forward…How to Master Plan Your Project” will be presented at the Rose Bowl Home at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on the day of the tour.

To re-energize between Pasadena and La Cañada, the tour has partnered with Brookside Golf Club (next to Rose Bowl Stadium) and DISH restaurant to offer a 10% discount to tour guests. DISH offers “classic American food…the kind you might find in an old Sunset magazine or your grandmother’s cookbook.”

  1. Hi Kat,

Great article! Just wanted to give you a heads up that both kitchens shown in the blog post are actually by me…Emily LaMarque 🙂 hope you can make it to the tour!

Thank you so much for helping us to get the word out about the upcoming ASID Kitchen and Home Tour. The first two images in the blog are from the kitchen I designed for the Pasadena Showcase 2012 Design House. You will not be disappointed by the houses and design featured in ASID tour. This event is not to be missed.
