It’s Almost ArcLight Time

The lobby in transition

Every construction project we’ve ever heard of takes months, if not years, and goes long over schedule. So it’s quite extraordinary that Pacific Theatres, owner of the theater complex at the Paseo, is pulling off a total renovation of the space in a mere five weeks. The former Pacific Theatres at the Paseo closed earlier this month and will reopen on May 7th as ArcLight Pasadena.

This will be a full-on ArcLight, just like the original in Hollywood and the second branch in Sherman Oaks. There will be a coffee bar, a chic little café/bar, a terrific gift shop, rotating art displays and 14 theaters with cushy seats and double-wide armrests. The theater next to the bar will be designated 21+, so guests can bring drinks into the movie. Best of all: reserved seats, ushers, no commercials and a strict and enforced no-talking policy. Because of all these extras, tickets cost a little more: $12.50 to $14.50, depending on the day; there are discounts for members, kids and seniors.

We’ll report back after a press preview this weekend, but for now, know that it opens Friday, May 7th, with a midnight screening of Iron Man 2. You should be able to buy tickets online in the coming days.
