In the Wheelhouse

Dec 1, 2014

cut_through_bridge_vaseWe seem to be on a “ceramics” kick at the moment. We stopped by Flintridge Bookstore during Small Business Saturday to see Beverly Crist’s plates, bowls, and vases and started a savings jar for a future purchase. We snagged a stunning vase and bowl for Christmas presents at Xiem Clay Center’s fall show a few weeks back, and now we’re looking forward to Wheelhouse Ceramics‘ holiday show and sale.

December 6th-7th, the members of the ceramic school for Monrovia Community Adult School will display and offer creations in clay. At Wheelhouse, over 30 glazes are available, all which are lead-free, and microwave and dishwasher safe. Five different kinds of clay may be used and they “work primarily in cone 10 stoneware and offer high fire, low fire, sagger fire, and raku.” Classes are $99 for ten weekly classes, plus a $10 lab fee, and residents from all surrounding cities and all skill levels are welcome.

If you’d rather purchase a handmade ceramic piece rather than try to master the art, we’ll see you in Monrovia this weekend…
