Over here at Prospect Park Media (HQ for Hometown-Pasadena.com, Eat-LA.com and Prospect Park Books), we’re celebrating today’s announcement that we’re jumping into the fiction pool to publish Helen of Pasadena, the first novel by Pasadena author Lian Dolan.

Many of you know Lian, either through her writing (Chaos Chronicles, Oprah.com, the Satellite Sisters book, etc.), her podcasts or her years on national radio and online with her actual four sisters as part of the Satellite Sisters. Or you may know her like I do, as a neighbor, dog walker, sports mom, school-event organizer and all-around great Pasadenan.

Here’s Lian’s announcement of the news on her Chaos Chronicles blog today.

We’re making this big leap into fiction because the book is smart, funny and tremendously entertaining — plus it gets Pasadena perfectly, yet will resonate nationally.

We look forward to publication events and readings in the fall, and to sharing this terrific new book with you. But for now… back to editing!

This is exciting news! Congratulations to both of you! I must have been living under a rock because I’ve never come across Lian before, and she’s everywhere!

I’ll certainly read her book, as right now I’m reading “Blame” by Michelle Huneven per your recommendation and it is FANTASTIC.

  2. Colleen Dunn Bates says:

So glad you’re liking Blame! It’s wonderful. Helen of Pasadena is a different sort of novel– it’s a lighter read, fun and funny. But they share intelligence and, of course, a Pasadena setting!

Congrats on the big leap! I’m so excited about Prospect Park Media! You are doing a GREAT job!
