Energy Unmatched: Quattrosound

Apr 6, 2015

Quattrosound_bRachel Worby, Muse/Ique‘s founder and conductor, states that Quattrosound’s “energy is unmatched.”

At the 14th Annual Latin Grammy’s, Quattrosound was nominated for Best New Artist. The ensemble blends Latin pop, jazz, and classical, what the group calls “popzzical,” which is also the name of its debut album.

Quattrosound, writes Worby, “share(s) our passion to rethink rules and shatter barriers of expectations.” She continues:

Their sound comes straight out of the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural cauldron of creativity that is Los Angeles. From jazz-layered Vivaldi to Latin-infused violing standards by Vittorio Monti, Quattrosound is the band of our mischievous dreams.

Members of Quattrosound—Giovanna Clayton on cello, Lisa Dondlinger on violin, Kay-ta Matsuno on guitar, and Jorge Villanueva, percussionist—will join Worby and her “counter-conventional” orchestra Muse\Ique for an intimate evening of music and collaboration at Jacob Maarse Florists on April 13th.
