Brown Bagging It

Mar 4, 2013

brownbagFor a while, lunching out was all the rage. We had money in our pockets and without a second thought would leave work and drop a quick twenty at the nearest burger joint, cafe, or taco bar.

But the recession jolted many of us out of our overfed food coma. Being financially thoughtful, even frugal, was soon a necessity. But who says it needs to be a drag?

Brown-Bag Tuesdays at Gamble House means you get a bang for your economically- and environmentally-friendly lunch.

Two 20-minute docent-led short tours through the historically rich Gamble House are given at 12:15 p.m. and 12:45 p.m.

Between 11:30 and 1:30, seating is provided on the lawn…or bring your own blanket to protect your tuckus…or simply sink right down into the green, green grass of Westmoreland Place with the San Gabriel Mountains as your stunning backdrop and revel in the glory that is Southern California in March. (Okay, that might be pushing it a bit; do check your local weather, as we all know how wet  this month can be.)

Tickets are $8 in advance or $7 in person, space permitting (advance ticket purchase is highly recommended). And, look, you’ve saved so much money, you can treat a friend.
