Pasadena photo-blogger Kat Likkel posted about the latest visual blight to hit Pasadena, with a plea to Pasadena Heritage to try to do something about it. At right is the “before” sign atop the old storage building on Fair Oaks, on the south end of Old Town; below is the “after” sign, a giant swath of orange plastic that went up yesterday. We’re not graphic designers, and yes, a big sign is a big sign, but it’s pretty evident that one displays a certain elegance and balance, while the other is just plain hideous.
Here’s Kat’s post on Pasadena 91105 and Beyond.

Please note that the banner sign is temporary and will only remain in place until some alterations to the A-American sign have been completed within federal historic preservation guidelines.
Thanks for letting us know, Ann.
Thank goodness for Ann Erdman.
I’ll say!
Anyone know who made the original sign?
