As if Dr. Lucy Jones didn’t have enough to scare us about already, she’s speaking on Friday at PCC about something we heretofore had no idea we needed to worry about: California’s “atmospheric rivers,” which when they occurred back in 1861-62 caused such flooding that a third of the taxable land in California was considered destroyed. Most people think of Dr. Jones when there’s an earthquake and she appears on TV to explain it to us, but in fact she’s an expert on all sorts of things we should worry about—which is why she is the Multi-Hazards Coordinator for Southern California.
If you’re interested in geology, or just need something new to worry about, you don’t want to miss this free lecture by one of Pasadena’s most eminent scientists.
