Amazing Station Fire Time-Lapse Video

Sep 4, 2009

station-fire-across-JPLAh, the circuitous routes that get traveled in cyberspace. My friend Nancy Ransohoff, who lives in Santa Barbara and has had close calls with both of the recent SB fires, sent me an e-mail from her friend, who got it from her friend, who is a teacher at St. Francis, which is three miles from my house. It contains links to two remarkable time-lapse vidoes of the Station Fire. The first is looking from Pasadena (hard to tell what vantage point — possibly Muir High?) looking west across JPL into the Crescenta Valley. The image above was captured from that video, and below is the video:

Colleen, these are so dramatic and yet there’s an eerie beauty to them. Thank God conditions have improved so much over the past couple of days.

  2. Jean Karen Wolstenholme says:

I see no beauty in this either eerie or otherwize. I see death, destruction, pain, suffering and tremendous loss.
