A Night at the Mausoleum

Jul 24, 2012

Dead Man’s Hands by Jeff G. Rack

And now for something completely different.

That mantra seems to be the driving force behind Jonathan Josephson, Paul Millet, and Jeff Rack of Unbound Productions. This past May, they presented History Lit, which was short stories by three women authors that were condensed and adapted into short plays. Fascinatingly, the audience walked with, followed, stood or sat next to the actors as the story unfolded. Dialogue was delivered inches away from those watching, ratcheting up the emotional experience. The audience was immersed in the story, rather than being merely a spectator.

Many people may already know about the popular, Halloween-inspired Wicked Lit from past productions. On Saturday, August 18th, a fundraiser will be held at the Mountain View Mausoleum to raise monies for this year’s spooky, audience-immersed October show.

Starting at 6 p.m., there will be a poker tournament with prizes for the top 8 players (limited to 50 people), readings that spoof the two past Wicked Lit plays, a pick’em game with lots of small but groovy prizes like DVDs, admission to the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, and tickets to the Ice House comedy club. There will also be a silent auction, “lots of food,” and a cash bar serving wine and beer.

The evening will culminate in the revealing of the lineup for Wicked Lit 2012 and attendees will get a chance to purchase tickets (before anyone else even hears about it—shh!).

The fundraiser is limited to 150 attendees, so, if an evening that includes: Shootout Style Texas Hold ‘Em; a chance to bid on dinner and tickets to Cirque de Soleil‘s “IRIS” or a champagne  tour of the newly renovated Fenyes Mansion; and hearing a staged reading of W.W. Jacobs’ The Monkey Paw or a spoof of The Body Snatcher – the Untold Love Story all while you’re enclosed in the imposing and majestic Mountain View Mausoleum, then this is the event for you.

Since space is limited, we suggest you reserve your tickets now.
