Still called the “Doubletree” by locals, this upscale hotel has been through a few owners but now seems well settled into life as a Westin. It is centrally located in downtown Pasadena, a block from City Hall and a short walk to Paseo Colorado; Old Town is several blocks to the west. It has all the bells and whistles of a quality Westin: rooftop pool, small fitness center, in-room internet access, good bed linens and upscale restaurants, including a lovely and quiet outdoor patio where Sunday brunch is served. The insanely driven stay in the “Westin Workout Rooms,” which come complete with a spinning cycle, Pilates gear and instructional DVDs. Other than the Huntington, which is in a class by itself, this is the best hotel in town.
