The Pasadena Public Library’s inaugural “Love Our Authors Celebration” was a wonderful success. The great hall was abuzz with local publishers and their authors such as Red Hen Press and the delightful Ron Koertge and Prospect Park Books with Christine Moore of Little Flower Cafe (who’s opening a new restaurant in May!) and Lian Dolan, author of Helen of Pasadena.
Balcony Press, located in Glendale, had former Los Angeles County District Attorney Gil Garcetti at their table. He was sharing his photo coffee table books, the lovely Dance in Cuba and one of which was incredibly titled, and about, Paris: Women & Bicycles.
Pasadena Symphony’s Random Acts of Music quartet created a lovely ambience as people browsed, read book jackets, engaged with authors, spreading into the auditorium where independent authors were stationed.
Now that the local book festival LitFest Pasadena may already be fini after only two years (or morphing into a lit crawl versus a book festival in the park), maybe “Love Our Authors” can develop and grow into Pasadena’s celebration of all things literary. Let’s hope!
