Finding the Light

IMG_0873We’re taught to look for the dramatic light, the “Golden Hour,” whether in the early hours of the day as the sun is about to emerge over the horizon, or the quickly vanishing swath of warm, flattering light just as the sun is setting.

Midday to mid-afternoon light is said to be too harsh, creating excessive contrast, hard shadows, and washed-out images.

But taking a few steps in, narrowing focus, and looking closely…sometimes color is striking and drama can be found nonetheless…
