Harnessing elusive energy – oceans to autos

Energy is everywhere; technology is almost everywhere, but opportunities are lost when they don’t work together. Imagine that you could harness the energy lost in braking your car; use the difference between the warm surface temperatures and cold depths of the ocean to generate electricity; or harvest the power released when fresh and salt water meet and blend. These unconventional energy sources could potentially provide enormous new supplies of electricity, but each carries significant challenges in development from theory to practice.
