Danish director Lone Scherfig gained attention with her 2000 film "Italian for Beginners." The movie was part of the Dogme 95 film movement, which emphasized principles such as the use of hand-held cameras and natural lighting. Scherfig's new film is "An Education." Written for the screen by Nick Hornby and set in 1960's London, it tells the story of a teenage girl torn between going to Oxford and pursuing a relationship with an older man. Critical acclaim is putting the film and star Carey Mulligan in contention to win major awards this season.
