Make plans now for one of our area’s most charming events – the Montrose Christmas Parade, this Saturday night, December 3.
For 35 years folks have marched down Honolulu Avenue in Montrose – it’s a family-focused parade, with more than 150 community service and youth groups, drill teams and bands from the surrounding cities participating. The highlight each year is a fly-over with Santa Claus in one of Glendale’s police helicopters.
The parade was created in the early 1950s by MGM musical star Dennis Morgan. With Grand Marshals such as Jackie Cooper, Jack Carson, and other movie star friends of Mr. Morgan’s, the parade was an instant hit with the public. After a hiatus the parade was revived in 1976 and the rest is history.
This year’s Grand Marshalls are local philanthropists Jack and Helen Nethercutt.
