My Child Will Be a Star (or Else!)

Join the Pasadena Musical Theatre Company’s 2011 winter ¬†production of My Child Will Be a Star (or Else), directed by Ryan Scott Oliver.

“You Can’t Stop the Beat,” “When Ya Got It, Flaunt It,” “Gimme Gimme” and “Forget About the Boy,” are among the songs in the electric review inspired by musicals based upon movies, such as Hairspray, Thoroughly Modern Millie, the Producers, and Little Shop of Horrors.

With a cast featuring frenetic child actors, bulldozing stage parents, frazzled directors, and hilariously evil movie critics, this production is sure to get love letters in all the trades, from its opening sprint downtown all the way to its explosive twist conclusion at the Oscars.

Students in grades 7 to 12 who attend school or reside in Pasadena, Altadena or Sierra Madre are invited to apply. Click here for an application form. No tryouts are necessary to participate.

It's 'nothing but drama' at PMTP

For 16 years, PMTP has provided performing arts education to the Pasadena community, and its 2010 summer production, Positively Wicked, was voted Best Theater Production in this year’s Pasadena Weekly Best of Pasadena edition. It¬†is the first youth program to win the theater award in the history of the publication.

The enrollment deadline is December 17th, 2010.
