Rhythm Child at Levitt

Jun 27, 2010

One night a week of Levitt Pavilion’s free summer concert series is devoted to the little ones who walk amongst us. No, not Gimli son of Glóin, but children. We’ll be spotlighting these weekly offerings in this space all summer long, so keep your eyes peeled—you never know who the next Raffi might be.

Appearing in the second installment of Children’s Night are Norm Jones and his Rhythm Child Network. RCN is dedicated to musical education for kids, through both exposure to the music of unfamiliar cultures and hands-on, interactive drum workshops—at the same time: contemporary grooves, familiar melodies and lyrics are juxtaposed with the sound of “primal” drums, which kids (and parents) are encouraged to bang on all day. Check out some of Norm’s jams on RCN’s website.
