Kid’s Night at Levitt Pavilion: Puppets!

One night a week of Levitt Pavilion’s free summer concert series is devoted to the little ones who walk amongst us. No, not midgets, but children. We’ll be spotlighting these weekly offerings in this space all summer long, so keep your eyes peeled—you never know where the next Raffi might come from.

Kicking things off at Children’s Night is Bob Baker and his marionettes, whose strings he has been pulling for more than 50 years. As his website proudly proclaims, “PUPPET SHOWS ARE FUN!” They can also be a vehicle for subtle, imaginative artistry, as per Being John Malkovich. Bob Baker is a lot like that, but without all the decidedly kid-unfriendly psychodrama: “A kinder, gentler entertainment for old and young,” says the Los Angeles Times. Baker runs his own Marionette Theater in Downtown L.A., but for the children of Pasadena, these puppets are going on the road.
