Each of Descanso’s gardens has their own individuality, charm and allure. From the thicket of magnolias and the peace of the Japanese garden you can take a stroll along the Promenade, tiptoe through the Rose, inhale the fragrance of the the lilacs in the Lilac, and go native Californian.

The newest nugget of gold is the Sturt Haaga Gallery and a…vertical garden? After five years (officially, last September), this new gallery and the adjacent Erskine Garden are open to the public. The east- and north-facing exterior walls of the Sturt Haaga host a vertical garden of California native plants. The east-facing panel  is composed of 60 stainless-steel compartment trays hung on steel frames with an interior irrigation system.

Any time of year can produce a special experience at the Descanso. Get to know it Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.
