We hear “cloning” and we cringe, get a tad fearful, feel the world will all the more quickly become something we no longer recognize. Luckily, Descanso Gardens is only teaching plant propagation, not the cloning of the family pet or little Timmy. Their “Green Thumb 101” workshop will allow guests to have a hands-on experience and learn “the many ways to ‘clone’ your favorite plants, including water-wise plants.”
Bring your gardening gloves; you may get dirty…
Green Thumb 101: Basic Propagation, Saturday, July 12th, 10 a.m. Cost: $15, members; $20, nonmembers. Register deadline is July 5th. Register at the Visitor Center or by calling 818.949.7980. DescansoGardens.org.
We love a free education. And we love getting dirty. So, we’re grateful to Descanso Gardens for “Get Dirty: A Garden Series by Descanso” that is free of charge (admission is free and the lecture is free) on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, which translates to July 15th.
This lecture will teach the basics of water conservation—even more important since residents of California only cut down on their water consumption by 5% rather than the 20% Governor Brown was requesting—and how to “minimize your water bill while maximizing garden lushness.”
Water-Wise Gardening, Tuesday, July 15th, 2 p.m. Details may be found at DescansoGardens.org.
