To see where film director Tim Burton, surrealist artist Marcel Duchamp and artist Charles White spent their early days creating, be sure to take in this summer’s Castle Green June Tour. Ordinarily closed to the public, the doors of this historic, Moorish and Mission revival-style former hotel will open to visitors on Sunday. Explore over 25 residential units, see stagings of how people might have enjoyed the grounds in the earlier years, and enjoy a 1940s-era picnic on the grass with croquet before ascending the veranda into the chandelier-lit foyer. Visitors may walk at their own pace through the original public rooms, the Grand Salon, the Moorish and Turkish Rooms, the Palm Room, the Sunroom and Veranda, the open cage elevator, and the Penthouse, while admiring the hand-carved woodwork and marble staircases. Make time to enjoy this semi-annual tour on Sunday, or you may have to wait until December to get another chance!
