2015_Altadena_Guild_Home_TourFor many of us, the arrival of spring is welcome not just for the poppies and tulips, but because of the upcoming home and garden tours.

On May 3rd, the Altadena Guild presents Bellissimo! where guests may “explore the magnificent homes and gardens residing within the original Sphinx Ranch of northeastern Altadena…nestled around the Midlothian and Glenview intersection.”

In addition to a day of touring, attendees may ogle at a classic hot rod show, rummage for treasure, stroll the Plein Air Market, take in an art show, listen to live music, sip cappucino and enjoy home-baked items, and have the opportunity to win a tour-inspired handmade quilt.

Various locations will have live entertainment, which in the past has included classical duos, jazz bands, and the Pasadena Scottish Pipes and Drums Corps. Guild member Linda Salinas exhibits her original art, “One Wonderful Thing” has gently-used items for sale, and hot rods will shine in all their glory. The marketplace will have dozens of vendors selling home and garden items, “unique” handmade jewelry and clothing, and “distinctive” art.

The tour’s Tea Garden offers complimentary beverages and biscotti, while the Bakery will have homemade goodies for purchase, as will “the renowned” Altadini Bar.

The Altadena Sheriff’s Mounted Posse has existed since the Department’s founding in 1850. Every year, this group of equestrian volunteers is seen along the tour route.
