2015 Historic Highlands Home Tour

May 7, 2015

historichighlands8Historic Highlands is bordered between New York and Washington Avenues, north to south, and Hill and Lake Avenues, east to west. On May 9th, the area’s HH Committee presents the 2015 Historic Highlands Home Tour.

Originally settled by early Pasadena pioneers David McPherson and Ezra Dane in
the late 1800’s, today the residential district lined with camphor trees is an interesting combination of houses in a variety of architectural styles many which have been restored by their current owners.

This year, the Historic Highlands plans to feature tours of five historic homes on East Woodbury Road along with Westminster Presbyterian Church which is celebrating its 100th Anniversary.  The tour offers visitors a rare chance to tour private residences first built in the 1920’s along with the famed Westminster Church located on Lake Avenue. (

This year, the tour will feature homes along Woodbury and Mar Vista Avenues in Altadena, including styles such as California Craftsman and Spanish Revival.

The Historic Highlands Home Tour is a self-guided tour (which normally takes about two hours) with the homes all within easy walking distance. Complimentary refreshments will be available, as will artists displaying their works and craftsmen offering educational demonstrations, focusing on restoration and the preservation of historic homes.
