Wiggle Your Waggle 2015

Aug 2, 2015

index-5As of this writing, 271 animals—cats, dogs, bunnies, hamsters, snakes, guinea pigs, turtles, and a cockatiel—are being sheltered at the Pasadena Humane Society. They’ve been welcomed, cleaned, checked by a vet, fed, housed, and pampered.

This is what the Humane Society does, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, every year. And over the course of one year, PHS will provide shelter and care for over 12,000 animals.

The Wiggle Waggle Walk was created 17 years ago to help offset the expenses incurred when people drop off pets that are no longer wanted, for whatever reason, or pets that have been found abandoned. Pasadena Humane Society is where these animals find a place of compassion and safety until new owners can be found.

The Wiggle Waggle is the Humane Society and SPCA’s biggest fundraiser of the year and will be held on September 27th at Brookside Park in Pasadena.

We’re promoting this event so early because individual fundraising is greatly encouraged. The monetary goal for this year: $400,000.

Registration is free and people may raise funds and walk as individuals or make it a group effort and create a team. Past teams have included The Punk Rock Rovers, The Dogs in the Night, Team Purr Hop Slobber, and the Bite Me! Squad.

Each team gets a free team photo, top fundraisers are awarded prizes, and after the walk, the WWW Pet Expo has dozens of booths offering animal bedding, clothing, toys, and treats. Food trucks will be on site with nosh to purchase. Also, the Humane Society’s Mobile Outreach Unit will have some adoptable pets for petting…and temptation.

Individually, Karen K. has raised $7,375, followed by JoAnn with $3,000 and Nikki with $2,785. People have a soft spot for animals in need!

So far, $39,604.72 has been raised. That leaves $360, 395.28 still to go. We’re going to conclude this article and go make our donation. How about you?
