Toys Are a Spark of Love

Dec 20, 2011

Christmas morning and no gifts under the tree? Unfortunately, far too many children will experience just this scenario on Christmas morning, the day many of us will be celebrating with family, engulfed in wrapping paper, and opening boxes filled with wonderful surprises—expressions of the love that is all around us.

What brings meaning to the holiday season is thinking beyond ourselves, giving, sharing, and bringing happiness to others. For their part, the Pasadena Fire Department is holding its 18th Spark of Love Toy Drive. Along with ABC7 and Southern California firefighters, our hometown fire department is gathering donations of new, unwrapped toys; sports equipment; and gift cards for every age child (infant to teenager).

Embrace the spirit of giving and drop off gifts to your local fire department. It’s a chance to meet your local firefighters and for them to meet the residents in their neighborhood. It’s a chance for our community to work together—and spread the love.
