Saving Libraries

AltadenaLibrary_ARGAccording to Altadena Alliance…

Since 1993, Altadena voters have overwhelmingly approved the parcel tax to counter crippling State cuts. We need a 2/3 majority to save our Altadena Libraries. If Measure A fails, we face slashed services and perhaps even closures. Help get out the vote. Keep our tradition alive. Keep our libraries open.

In 2015, the parcel tax that has provided nearly 30% of our Altadena Libraries’ support for 20 years is due to expire. We can’t let that happen! We would lose $735,000 in annual funding for our main library and the Bob Lucas Branch library. The endorsements we have received are overwhelming. Join us. Help us save our libraries.¬†(

The Alliance has received over 50 endorsements including from the PUSD School Board and PTA, the Altadena NAACP, the League of Women Voters, area churches and restaurants, community organizations, Congresswoman Judy Chu, and State Senator Carol Liu.

Volunteers are needed for phone calls, campaign events, data entry, and walking the neighborhood. For interested parties, please visit the Alliance volunteer page.
